Hackettstown Mayor Jerry DiMaio joined the ceremony to express his gratitude to local veterans and their families.

“As Mayor, I am truly honored today to be able to express my gratitude for all that you have given and sacrificed,” DiMaio said. “You all deserve to be honored and respected, and to have all of us non-veterans preserve the stories of your service so future generations understand the price of peace.”

Among those in attendance was Lt. Blas, who served in the United States Marine Corps from January 2002 to 2008 as Infantry 0311, achieving the rank of Sergeant.

Following the ceremony, a wreath-laying took place at the Veterans monument outside the American Legion to honor and remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Veterans, officials, and community members gathered at the Legion to reflect, remember, and celebrate the courage and dedication of those who have served.
