
Two cats die in second-alarm house fire in Morris County
ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Two cats died in a house fire Sunday morning in Rockaway Township, but no residents or firefighters were injured, according to the White Meadow Lake Fire Company.
Emergency responders were dispatched to a home on Circle Drive at about 10:22 a.m. after a fire was reported inside the residence. Police arriving on scene requested additional firefighting resources as flames were confirmed.
Firefighters stretched multiple hose lines and worked aggressively to contain and extinguish the blaze. Additional mutual aid crews responded to assist with suppression efforts.
No civilians or firefighters were injured in the fire. Two cats inside the home died as a result of the incident, officials said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
