Hunterdon Health conducts active shooter drill with local first responders
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon Health hosted an active shooter drill Dec. 17 to test emergency response coordination among hospital staff and local first responders, officials said.
The drill was designed to evaluate Hunterdon Health’s lockdown procedures as well as police and emergency medical response. Hospital officials said patient care was not interrupted during the exercise, which was conducted on the fourth floor of the medical education wing.
The drill involved multiple agencies, including Hunterdon County Public Safety and Emergency Management, Hunterdon County Communications, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, the Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Office, and police departments from Raritan Township and Readington Township. Emergency medical participants included Hunterdon Medical Center paramedics, the Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad and the Whitehouse Rescue Squad.
Hunterdon Health officials credited Emergency Management and Safety Specialist Keith Paradiso with organizing the drill and coordinating the participating agencies.
