Florham Park reports 2 vehicle thefts this week; police urge residents to lock cars and remove keys

FLORHAM PARK BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — Florham Park police reported two vehicle thefts in town this week and warned that attempted burglaries and thefts appear to be increasing in the area in recent weeks.

Police said both vehicles were stolen on weekdays between noon and 7 p.m., with one taken from a commercial lot and the other from a residence.

In the first incident, police said, the stolen vehicle and its four occupants were later linked to attempted home burglaries and attempted vehicle thefts the same night in multiple counties — Monmouth, Union, Morris, Essex and Bergen — as well as in Staten Island. Police said the vehicle did not belong to a Florham Park resident, has been recovered and the investigation is ongoing in coordination with multiple agencies.

The second theft, involving a vehicle stolen from a Florham Park resident, remains under investigation, police said. Police said they would share information about arrests “when they happen.”

Police urged residents to take basic precautions, emphasizing the importance of locking vehicles and keeping keys secure.

“Pleeeeeeease … for the sake of your neighbors and to deter criminal opportunists from our town, always lock your cars and take the keys with you!” police said.
