Hope One, Thrive Morris Gives distribute winter essentials on Morristown Green

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (Morris County) — Hope One and Thrive Morris Gives partnered to distribute essential items to residents in need during an outreach event Feb. 24 on the Morristown Green.

Thrive Morris Gives, the philanthropic arm of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce Health and Wellness Committee, collected more than 2,800 individual items during December and January, including shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, tissues, lip balm and nail clippers. The donations were assembled into care bags and distributed by the Hope One team.

Kate Garzón of Thrive Morris Gives helped collect and coordinate the donations provided to Hope One for the event.

Sheriff James M. Gannon attended the outreach effort and highlighted the importance of the partnership during the winter months.

“These past couple of months have been hard winter months. They are especially hard for those in need. It’s through programs like Thrive Morris Gives in partnership with Hope One that we provide a little relief for people. Truly great work by all!” Gannon said.

Hope One, launched in 2017 by Gannon, travels to locations throughout Morris County to provide mental health and recovery support services. Since its inception, the program has made more than 70,200 contacts and has trained and distributed more than 13,350 lifesaving Narcan kits to community members.

Organizers encouraged anyone struggling with mental health or substance use issues to visit Hope One at its community stops for assistance and resources.
