Fire crews extinguish vehicle fire on Route 46 in Warren County

WHITE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — A vehicle fire along Route 46 prompted a temporary road closure Saturday afternoon in White Township, according to the Good Will Fire Company.

Firefighters were dispatched just after 4 p.m. to the area of 585 Route 46. While en route, the fire chief reported seeing a column of smoke from about a mile away and requested additional support from Knowlton Township Fire and Rescue Company No. 1, which was returning from another vehicle fire call.

Crews from both departments worked together to bring the fire under control.

The New Jersey State Police and fire police assisted with temporarily shutting down Route 46 as crews extinguished the blaze.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service also responded due to the vehicle’s proximity to nearby woods and brush.

All units cleared the scene and returned to their stations within about an hour.
