N.J. State Police seek tips in 2020 I-78 attempted murder in Warren County on sixth anniversary

GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — New Jersey State Police are seeking the public’s help in solving a 2020 attempted murder case on Interstate 78 as the investigation marks its sixth anniversary.

Authorities said the shooting occurred March 31, 2020, at approximately 5:57 a.m. near Exit 6 on I-78 eastbound in Greenwich Township. The case is being investigated by the State Police Cold Case Unit and Troop “B” Criminal Investigation Office.

According to investigators, a 45-year-old woman from Easton, Pennsylvania, was driving eastbound and had exited the highway when her vehicle was overtaken by another vehicle. The suspect exited his vehicle and fired multiple rounds, seriously injuring the victim, police said.

The suspect then returned to his vehicle and fled the scene, continuing into Greenwich Township.

Police described the suspect as a white male with longer hair, of medium height and build, wearing dark-colored clothing at the time of the incident. He is believed to have been driving a newer-model, dark-colored full-sized sedan.

A composite sketch was created depicting the suspect’s appearance at the time of the shooting.

State police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, recognizes the suspect or has information about the case to contact the Cold Case Unit at 609-462-0049 or email ColdCase@njsp.gov. Anonymous tips are accepted.
