SCCC President Cory Homer receives Sussex County Chamber Chairman’s Award

SUSSEX COUNTY, N.J. — Sussex County Community College President Dr. Cory Homer was honored with the Chairman’s Award at the 2026 Sussex County Chamber of Commerce Awards Luncheon, college officials announced.

The annual event recognized business success, leadership and community contributions across the region while also marking the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.

Homer received the Chairman’s Award, which honors an individual or organization for exemplary contributions to Sussex County. The award was presented by former Chamber Chairman Mike Richards during the ceremony.

Under Homer’s leadership, Sussex County Community College has expanded educational opportunities, strengthened partnerships and contributed to the county’s economic and workforce development efforts, officials said.

“We are incredibly proud of Dr. Homer and this well-deserved recognition,” said Dr. Kathleen Okay, Senior Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs. “His leadership reflects a deep commitment to student success and to the broader Sussex County community.”

The luncheon brought together regional leaders and organizations and featured a patriotic theme, with attendees wearing red, white and blue in recognition of the country’s milestone anniversary.

College officials also congratulated other honorees and said the institution remains committed to serving as a resource for education and innovation in Sussex County.

His hobbies include mountain climbing, snowmobiling, cooking, performing stand-up comedy and he is an avid squirrel watcher.
