Hunterdon County Commissioners recognize Polytech Biomedical Sciences Academy for outstanding participation in 2025 HOSA Conference

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – The Hunterdon County Commissioner Board recently recognized the exceptional achievements of the Biomedical Services Academy students from the Hunterdon County Vocational School District (HCVSD) during the 2025 New Jersey HOSA Future Health Professionals Central Regional Conference.

Commissioner Zach Rich, who also serves as the co-liaison to the HCVSD Board said, “HOSA’s mission to prepare future leaders in health professions aligns perfectly with the goals of our Biomedical Sciences Academy. The students’ participation in this conference is a reflection of their hard work, talent, and commitment to making a difference in the healthcare field. We congratulate each of them on their outstanding achievements and wish them continued success.”

The conference, held at Kean University on January 27, brought together talented students from across the region to showcase their skills, knowledge, and leadership in the field of health sciences. The HCVSD Biomedical Sciences Academy students demonstrated excellence in a variety of competitive health science events, earning commendations and awards for their outstanding performance.

Listed below are the outstanding honorees:

  • Regan Kenny – 2nd place, Dental Terminology
  • Emanuella Youchom-Tagheu – 2nd place, Medical Assisting
  • Erin Roberts & Amelia Reitman – 5th place, Emergency Medical Technician
  • Riyana Parikh – 3rd place, Job Seeking Skills
  • Ohm Patel – 5th place, Medical Math

HOSA, a global student-led organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, offers unique opportunities for leadership development, motivation, and recognition for students enrolled in health science and biomedical science programs. Events like the New Jersey HOSA Central Regional Conference play a crucial role in preparing students for careers in the ever-evolving healthcare industry.

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music. Jay has held numerous jobs over the years such as stunt car driver, bartender, voice-over artist, traffic reporter (award winning), NY Yankee maintenance crewmember and peanut farm worker. His hobbies include mountain climbing, snowmobiling, cooking, performing stand-up comedy and he is an avid squirrel watcher. Jay has been a guest on America’s Morning Headquarters,program on The Weather Channel, and was interviewed by Sam Champion.
