Lane shifts planned on Easton-Phillipsburg “free bridge” May 4-8 for ultra-sonic testing
PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. (Warren County) — Drivers crossing the Easton-Phillipsburg “free bridge” should expect lane shifts during daytime hours this week as crews conduct ultra-sonic testing, officials said.
The Northampton Street Toll-Supported Bridge will be limited to a single lane in each direction from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, May 4-8. Two of the bridge’s three lanes will remain open during the work.
Vehicles will be directed into parallel opposing lanes of traffic while crews conduct ultra-sonic testing on the 130-year-old bridge’s steel cantilever-truss superstructure, including its pin connections.
Officials said travel delays are not anticipated.
Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and use caution when approaching and crossing the bridge. The schedule is subject to change due to weather, emergencies or other factors.
