Vandalism reported at Wantage Dog Park; state police investigating
WANTAGE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — New Jersey State Police are investigating after the Wantage Dog Park sustained what officials described as malicious damage earlier this week.
According to the Wantage Township Animal Shelter, damage was discovered to the dog park’s fence, gate and flagpole. Officials said the vandalism is believed to have occurred sometime during the night of June 16 or the early morning hours of June 17.
A report has been filed with the New Jersey State Police, and the incident remains under investigation.
The animal shelter is asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or who has information about the incident to contact the New Jersey State Police Augusta Station at 973-383-1514.
“We appreciate the community’s help in protecting and preserving this valuable resource for our residents and their pets,” the Wantage Township Animal Shelter said in a statement.
