MORRIS COUNTY, N.J. — The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority has awarded five $1,500 mini grants to municipalities for projects aimed at reducing waste, increasing recycling and promoting sustainability.
The annual Waste Reduction and Recycling Mini Grant Program provides funding for local initiatives that encourage recycling participation, educate residents and support community waste reduction efforts.
“Supporting these local projects is a great way to help our municipalities find practical ways to reduce waste and improve recycling,” said Morris County Commissioner Tayfun Selen, liaison to the MCMUA. “We appreciate the work these communities are doing and look forward to seeing the results of their efforts.”
The 2026 grant recipients are:
- Mendham Borough: Residential Food Waste Collection Program.
- Mendham Township: Plastic Film Recycling Pilot Program and Backyard Composting Training and Starter Kit Program.
- Morris Township: Residential Food Waste Collection and Drop-off Pilot.
- Morristown: Residential Food Waste Collection and Drop-off Pilot.
- Rockaway Township: Installation of CCTV cameras on curbside recycling trucks to monitor recycling contamination and provide recycling education to residents.
“We are excited to support these municipalities as they implement projects that will have a lasting impact on their communities,” said Anthony Marrone, district recycling coordinator for the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority. “These grants represent an investment in local leadership and innovative ideas that help reduce waste, conserve resources, and build cleaner, more sustainable communities. The MCMUA is proud to support our counties’ municipalities in these efforts.”
The mini grant program is part of the MCMUA’s ongoing efforts to partner with municipalities on recycling, waste reduction and responsible waste management initiatives.
