HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — Internationally acclaimed Swedish musician Gunhild Carling will open Centenary Stage Company’s 2026-27 season with an evening of jazz, swing and vaudeville next month in Hackettstown.
Carling will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Sitnik Theatre in the Lackland Performing Arts Center, 715 Grand Ave.
Known as Sweden’s “Queen of Swing, Jazz, and Vaudeville,” Carling is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer and entertainer whose performances combine jazz, swing, funk, comedy and vaudeville.
Born into the Carling Family musical dynasty, Carling began playing instruments at an early age. She performs on instruments including trombone, trumpet, recorder, ukulele, piano, harmonica and bagpipes.
Carling has accumulated more than 70 million views on YouTube and has appeared with Postmodern Jukebox. She has also held residencies at Birdland in New York City.
Her career has included touring with the Count Basie Orchestra under the direction of Scotty Barnhart and performing at Carnegie Hall, as well as appearances at jazz festivals, clubs and concert venues around the world.

The Sept. 12 performance will officially open Centenary Stage Company’s 2026-27 professional season, which will include theater, music, dance and special events throughout the year.
Advance tickets range from $30 to $45 and will cost an additional $5 on the day of the performance.
