MORRISTOWN, N.J. (Morris County) — A report of a man with a gun at Morristown Medical Center early Sunday prompted a law enforcement response and lockdown before authorities determined the call was a swatting hoax, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
Morristown police and county agencies responded to the medical center at approximately 1:45 a.m. Aug. 16 after receiving a report of a man with a gun, and the facility was placed on lockdown.
Through the coordinated efforts of responding agencies, authorities determined the call was a swatting hoax and that there was no danger to the medical center or the public, according to the prosecutor’s office.
The lockdown was subsequently lifted.
