Man dies from injuries after Warren County crash, state police say

HOPE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — A New York man has died from injuries he suffered in a July 30 crash in Hope Township that also injured two other people, according to New Jersey State Police.

State police said Wednesday that Chris S. Leininger, 63, of Menands, New York, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead Aug. 14.

The crash happened Thursday, July 30, on County Road 519 north at milepost 44.5. Troopers responded at 1:29 p.m.

A preliminary investigation found that the driver of a Dodge SUV lost directional control, causing the vehicle to leave the right side of the roadway, strike a utility pole and a rock wall, and overturn, state police said.

Leininger, who was riding in the rear seat, suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

The driver and front-seat passenger suffered minor injuries and were also transported to an area hospital.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was available, state police said.
