During the stop, Cox allegedly placed the vehicle into drive and fled.

Police did not initiate a pursuit because officers already had Cox’s driver’s license and knew his identity.

The following day, Aug. 19, members of the Denville Police Department Detective Bureau located Cox and took him into custody.

Cox was charged with third-degree eluding law enforcement and issued multiple motor vehicle summonses for failure to provide an insurance card, failure to possess a registration card, operating an unregistered vehicle, disregarding a stop sign, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to signal, failure to maintain a lane and improper lane change.

Cox was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a future appearance in Morris County Superior Court.
