Morris County woman killed in stabbing in Times Square; suspect fatally shot by NYPD

NEW YORK, NY — A 32-year-old Morris County woman was killed and a man was injured in a stabbing in Times Square on Monday afternoon before New York City police fatally shot the woman accused in the attack, according to the NYPD.

Police identified the woman who died as Erin Piacenti, 32, of Chester.

At approximately 4:24 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, officers responded to 911 calls reporting a disorderly person near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue in Manhattan, within the NYPD’s Midtown South Precinct.

When officers arrived, they encountered a 49-year-old woman displaying two large knives and advancing toward them, according to police. Officers fired their weapons, striking the woman.

The woman, identified by police as Pamela Cisneros of Queens, was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where she was pronounced dead.

During the investigation, officers learned that Piacenti and a 68-year-old man had sustained stab wounds, according to the NYPD.

Both were transported to Bellevue, where Piacenti was later pronounced dead. The 68-year-old man was listed in stable condition.

The officers involved were taken to a local hospital for evaluation, police said.

Two knives were recovered at the scene.

The NYPD Force Investigation Division is investigating the shooting.
