CHATHAM BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — Firefighters extinguished an early morning structure fire at a business in Chatham Borough on Wednesday, with no injuries reported, according to Borough Administrator Stephen W. Williams.
Chatham Borough police officers responded to a business on South Passaic Avenue at about 4:30 a.m. for a report of a structure fire.
The Chatham Borough Fire Department responded along with several mutual aid fire departments from Morris and Union counties. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, and no injuries were reported at the scene.
Members of the Chatham Borough Police Department’s Detective Bureau, the Morris County Fire Marshal and the Chatham Borough Fire Marshal’s Office responded to investigate.
The fire does not appear to be suspicious at this time, Williams said. The exact cause remains under investigation and has not been determined.
Responding agencies included the Chatham Borough Fire Department, Chatham Township Fire Department, Green Village Fire Department, New Vernon Fire Department, Madison Fire Department, New Providence Fire Department, Summit Fire Department, Berkeley Heights Fire Department, Mount Tabor Fire Department, Chatham Emergency Squad, Chatham Office of Emergency Management, Chatham Fire Safety Bureau, Morris County Fire Marshal, Chatham Borough Police Department, Morris County Air Truck and Morris County Gong Club, which provided refreshments.
