Hunterdon County commissioners recognize Holland Township arborist for state tree climbing achievement
HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners recognized Holland Township resident Tyler Boyd after he finished as runner-up in the New Jersey State Tree Climbing Championship and qualified to represent the state in an upcoming regional competition.
Boyd was presented with a proclamation during the commissioners’ Sept. 15 meeting recognizing his performance in the state championship.
An ISA Certified Arborist and New Jersey Licensed Tree Care Operator, Boyd competed in five preliminary events against other arborists. The competition tested participants’ technical expertise, physical ability, safety practices, mental focus and professionalism.
“Tyler Boyd’s accomplishment reflects an extraordinary level of skill, dedication, and professionalism,” said Hunterdon County Commissioner Director John E. Lanza. “We are proud to recognize Tyler, who has distinguished himself in his profession and who will have the opportunity to represent New Jersey in regional competition.”
Boyd’s runner-up finish qualified him to represent New Jersey at the Battle at Bayard tree climbing competition, scheduled for Sept. 26 on Long Island.
His finish also puts him in position to represent New Jersey at the 2026 International Tree Climbing Championship in St. Louis, Missouri, from Oct. 9 through Oct. 11 if the New Jersey champion is unable to participate.
The commissioners congratulated Boyd on his achievement and wished him well as he prepares for the Battle at Bayard.
