DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — An East Hanover man was arrested after police said he falsely identified himself as a New Jersey State Police contractor and an active member of the East Hanover Fire Department while at Denville police headquarters.
Robert Jocher, 55, responded to police headquarters at approximately 9 a.m. Sept. 20 to report a deceased animal on private property, according to police.
While at headquarters, Jocher was observed wearing an East Hanover Fire Department badge, police said. During the investigation, Jocher allegedly identified himself as a contractor for the New Jersey State Police and as an active member of the East Hanover Fire Department.
Jocher was arrested and charged with impersonating a public servant.
He was issued a complaint summons and released with a future court date in Denville Municipal Court.
