Driver flown to hospital after being trapped in I-80 wreck in Warren County, state police say

ALLAMUCHY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A crash is under investigation by the New Jersey State Police after a car crashed into the woods on Interstate 80 in Warren County Monday afternoon, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Philip Curry.

The crash occurred at 3:45 p.m. on I-80 eastbound milepost 21 in Allamuchy Township, Curry said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that an Infiniti FX3 ran off the road into the woods. The driver was trapped and suffered serious injuries, Curry said.

The driver was extricated from the vehicle by the Allamuchy Fire Department and airlifted to St. Luke’s, Curry said.

The eastbound lanes were closed for approximately 30 minutes while the helicopter landed and then the left two lanes were closed for approximately 4 hours resulting in heavy traffic congestion, Curry said.
