Bill to provide fully disabled veterans access to dental care passes committee
NEW JERSEY – The Senate Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee this week passed legislation sponsored by Senator Parker Space (R-24) that would require certain dental clinics to prioritize appointments for fully disabled veterans.
“Our veterans have made tremendous sacrifices for our country, so it’s our duty to make sure they receive the care they deserve,” said Senator Space. “This bill is a small but meaningful way to show our gratitude and ensure our veterans have access to essential dental services.”
Currently, Rutgers is the only university with a dental school of medicine and has three community clinics throughout the State.
Senator Spaces bill, S-1859, would require all dental clinics that are associated with New Jersey universities to ensure timely treatment for disabled Veterans within 30 days of scheduling an appointment.
