Boil water advisory remains in effect for parts of Warren County despite completed repairs
UPDATE: Boil water advisory lifted for four Warren County communities after main break
WARREN COUNTY, N.J. — New Jersey American Water said Wednesday that water pressure has been restored in Franklin Township, Mansfield Township, Washington Borough and Washington Township following repairs to a broken main, but a boil water advisory remains in effect until testing is complete.
The company said its Water Quality Team collected samples from the distribution system Wednesday morning. Results are expected within 24 to 48 hours. If the samples meet state and federal water quality standards, the advisory will be lifted.
Until then, residents in the affected communities are instructed to bring tap water to a rolling boil for one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, washing produce, making ice, or cleaning dishes. Boiled or bottled water should also be provided to pets. Water is safe for bathing, washing and other common uses, officials said.
The original advisory was issued after a water main break near Prospect Street and Church Street in Washington Borough. Crews have since completed repairs and restored service.
New Jersey American Water advises residents to discard any uncooked food, beverages or ice cubes made with tap water during the advisory.
