Brush fire in Madison Borough quickly contained, officials say

MADISON BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — A brush fire that broke out late Thursday morning in Madison Borough was quickly brought under control thanks to a coordinated response from local and state agencies, officials said.

The Madison Fire and Police Departments were dispatched around 11:23 a.m. to the area of 205 Madison Avenue, near St. Paul Inside the Walls. Firefighters found a 50-by-25-foot section of woods burning between Shadylawn Drive and Madison Avenue.

The fire was contained shortly after crews arrived and has been determined to be unintentional, officials said.

Two New Jersey State Forest Fire towers observed the incident and dispatched additional support from the State Forest Fire Service.
