Byram Township police officers honored for bravery, service during awards ceremony
BYRAM TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — The Byram Township Police Department recognized several officers, telecommunicators and public safety personnel for bravery, service and professionalism during a recent departmental awards ceremony.
In a statement released by Police Chief Thomas A. Dellicker, the department thanked surrounding agencies, township officials and community members for their support during what officials described as “traumatic and challenging events.”
“Your presence and encouragement mean the world to us, especially as our officers continue to demonstrate exceptional professionalism and courage in the face of traumatic and challenging events,” Dellicker said.
The department also thanked neighboring agencies that assisted during incidents and helped cover patrol shifts.
Award recipients included former Chief Daniel DeWald, former Chief Guy Mariani, Chief Thomas Dellicker, Sgt. Christopher Spaldo, Patrolman Victor Marin and Detective Lawrence Mendelsohn, who received the Medal of Honor Award.
Spaldo also received the Combat Cross Medal Award.
Mendelsohn was honored with the Honorable Service Award.
The department presented Unit Citation Awards to Sussex County Sheriff’s Office telecommunicators Stephanie House, Travis Finan, Ashley Hebble and Mike Totaro.
Additional Unit Citation Awards were presented to former Chief Mariani, Sgt. Derek Kuncken, Sgt. Christopher Spaldo, Patrolman Kevin Garrity and Patrolman Daniel Mejorado.
Sgt. Kevin Perry received the 10-Year Good Conduct Award, while Officer Mark Bollmann received the Military Service Award.
Dellicker said the department remains grateful for the continued support of township officials and partner agencies.
“Together, our collective efforts make our community stronger and safer,” Dellicker said.
