Centenary University finishes third in conference in statewide Ballot Bowl voter engagement competition

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — Centenary University placed third in its conference in the 2025 New Jersey Ballot Bowl, a statewide nonpartisan competition aimed at registering and engaging college-age voters ahead of the general election.

Organized on campus through Centenary’s Center for Civic Engagement, students canvassed their peers to record voting intent and helped those not yet registered by directing them to online voter registration resources.

The Ballot Bowl, sponsored by the New Jersey Secretary of State’s Office, encourages colleges and universities across the state to boost civic participation among young voters. Schools are ranked based on the number of students they register or engage during the election cycle.

During an awards ceremony held at the New Jersey State Capitol in Trenton, Lt. Gov. Tahesha Way presented Centenary’s award to representatives from the university. Accepting the honor were Diana Alzate, director of the First-Year Experience at Centenary, along with students Maximus Klevence (the Cyclone mascot) of Philadelphia, Miguel Baldwin of Trenton, and Kacey Frein of Lexington, Va.
