Chilton Medical Center receives recognition for excellence in emergency nursing
Second Lantern Award® recognition from Emergency Nurses Association
POMPTON PLAINS, N.J. (Morris County) – The Emergency Department at Chilton Medical Center continues to receive honors for clinical excellence, most recently earning consecutive recognition from the Emergency Nurses Association’s Lantern Award® for demonstrating outstanding leadership, practice, education, advocacy and innovation in emergency care.
Chilton joins fellow Atlantic Health System hospitals Newton Medical Center and Hackettstown Medical Center in earning a spot on the 2025 list.
“Every day the extraordinary team at Chilton Medical Center’s Emergency Department remains ready to provide the highest quality care to every patient that comes through our doors,” said Maureen Schneider, PhD, MBA, RN, President, Chilton Medical Center and Senior Vice President, Atlantic Health System. “This wonderful recognition is further validation that our team continues to raise the bar on quality care and exceptional patient outcomes. I am so proud of our entire team for the hard work that makes awards like this possible.”
Chilton’s Emergency Department joins 96 EDs nationwide recognized by the ENA in 2025. The Lantern Award recognizes the Emergency Services at Chilton for exceptional work, commitment to quality, and consistently demonstrated patient-centered care. This award considers a variety of quantitative factors that focus on performance, as well as qualitative examples of noteworthy practices and attributes of an Emergency Department. The award serves as a visible symbol of Chilton’s commitment to improved patient care and team member well-being.
Every medical center within Atlantic Health System now holds this honorable recognition, with Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Medical Center, CentraState Medical Center, Newton Medical Center and Hackettstown Medical Center all being Lantern Award recipients as well. The award lasts for a three-year cycle, after which Emergency Departments are eligible to apply again.
“Nurses at Chilton Medical Center and their colleagues across Atlantic Health System are dedicated to the belief that every patient deserves an exceptional health care experience,” said Ginell Walker-Way, RN, Chief Nursing Officer, Chilton Medical Center. “Congratulations to the Emergency Department team for continuing their tradition of excellence and for always putting our patients and communities first.”
