Commissioner Director Kuhl and Deputy Director Soloway attend New Jersey Makers Day at the Hunterdon County Library

“Occasion Marked the 10th Anniversary of the Event”

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Hunterdon County Commissioner Director Jeff Kuhl and Deputy Director Susan J. Soloway recently participated in the 10th Annual New Jersey Makers Day activities at the Main Branch of the Hunterdon County Library.

New Jersey Makers Day celebrates the inventor, maker, creator, artist, tinkerer in all of us. It’s an annual statewide event held at over 250 libraries, museums, schools, makerspaces, and businesses across New Jersey.  The Hunterdon County Library hosted interactive projects at all three of its library branches.

“I was advised that over 1,500 people attended Makers Day activities and the feedback from participants and spectators alike was very positive.  Our staff at the library deserve a great deal of credit for their hard work and creativity,” Kuhl said.

There were a number of highlights at New Jersey Makers Day including creating Cat Castles with Tabby’s Place, soldering lessons for children, and a PancakeBot that created custom designed pancakes including llama’s stars, butterflies, ducks and lightning bolts.

“Director Kuhl and I participated in a mushroom log inoculation exhibit, in which participants drilled holes in a log and inserted mushroom spores which will yield a mushroom harvest in roughly 10 months’ time,” Soloway said. “I would encourage our residents to consider participating in future New Jersey Makers Day events if they haven’t already done so, and to visit the county’s recently renovated Main Branch Library which offers a number of unique new spaces including a Makerspace complete with state-of-the-art equipment like 3D printers and a laser cutter.”
