Commissioners recognize Phillipsburg’s Laura Wojick as Warren County Teacher of the Year
PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. (Warren County) — Laura Wojick, a computer science and information technology teacher in the Phillipsburg High School District, has been honored as Warren County Teacher of the Year by the Warren County Board of County Commissioners.
The commissioners presented Wojick with a proclamation recognizing her nomination and selection through the Governor’s Educator of the Year Program.
Commissioner Director Jason J. Sarnoski said the board was proud to acknowledge Wojick’s excellence as an educator and celebrate her selection. “coming from a family of teachers I understand the value they add to our community and want to thank you for all the hard work that you’ve done,” Sarnoski said.
Wojick entered education through the alternate route program after working in the business world and has taught at Phillipsburg High School for 25 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in science from Rider University and a master’s degree in educational technology from The College of New Jersey.
As an Advanced Placement Computer Science and Cisco Academy instructor for two decades, Wojick has focused on updating and introducing innovative technology trends in the classroom. She co-advises the Technology Student Association, founded a Girls Who Code chapter, and received the 2022 National Center for Women and Information Technology Aspirations in Computing Educator Award.
She is currently expanding her expertise in artificial intelligence through coursework at Carnegie Mellon University and participation in the Educational Advances in Artificial Intelligence 2025 symposium.
