Daytime work may force alternating traffic at Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Bridge Jan. 19-23

FRENCHTOWN BOROUGH, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Motorists traveling the Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Toll-Supported Bridge could encounter daytime, flagger-controlled traffic with alternating single-lane travel next week as crews finish work tied to a recent rehabilitation project.

Flagging operations are possible from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, through Friday, Jan. 23, when drivers may be directed to stop and proceed through the bridge one direction at a time, officials said.

The restrictions would allow a commission subcontractor to complete remaining elements of the rehabilitation work or troubleshoot systems and connections at or near the bridge, according to officials.

Motorists are urged to slow down, be prepared to stop and follow flagger instructions when travel restrictions are in effect. The planned stoppages are subject to change because of weather, emergencies or other factors, officials said.
