DWI checkpoint scheduled in Mount Olive Township for Aug. 16–17

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A joint Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) checkpoint will be conducted in Mount Olive during the weekend of Aug. 16–17, Morris County authorities announced Tuesday.

According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Mount Olive Police Chief Michael Spitzer, law enforcement personnel from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and the Mount Olive Police Department will coordinate the checkpoint. The exact location has not been disclosed.

The DWI enforcement effort is funded by grants awarded to the Prosecutor’s Office by the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety. The funds are designated for collaborative sobriety checkpoints conducted with municipal police departments across the county.

“The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has previously coordinated similar checkpoints throughout various municipalities and intends to continue doing so with advance public notice,” officials said in a joint statement.
