Firefighters extinguish 2-alarm blaze in Morris County

ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) — Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze Friday afternoon in Rockaway Township.

The fire broke out around 3:10 p.m. at a residence in the White Meadow Lake section, authorities said.

Upon arrival, fire crews confirmed a working fire, prompting a second alarm that brought in additional fire companies and EMS, officials said.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze by around 5:00 p.m. The Parsippany Rescue and Recovery Unit was also called in to assist with salvage operations and overhaul, authorities said.

“In addition, we’re hearing that three young boys noticed the fire and also notified authorities. Great job young men, a great example of “See something, Say something,” Rockaway Fire Department said.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear, and it is unknown if there were any injuries.
