Firefighters extinguish garbage truck fire in Warren County

BELVIDERE, NJ (Warren County) – Firefighters extinguish a garbage truck fire in Belvidere Friday morning.

On January 31, at around 7:10 a.m., the Good Will Fire Company (GWFC) was dispatched to the scene of a vehicle fire in the area of Market Street and Delaware Avenue. Upon arrival, the fire chief found a garbage truck, used for collecting recyclable materials, with a hydraulic leak and the contents actively on fire.

To prevent the fire from spreading further, the company dumped the recycling load, making it easier to extinguish the flames. Fire crews worked to put out the blaze, addressing both the recycling pile and the garbage truck itself.

GWFC thanked the Belvidere Department of Public Works (DPW) and Warren County HazMat for their assistance at the scene.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
