Firefighters rescue swan on Lake Hopatcong

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Jefferson Township Fire Company #2 firefighters rescued a swan on Lake Hopatcong.

On Thursday morning, firefighters responded to the Ashley Cove of Lake Hopatcong for a swan that was caught up in a line on one of the floating islands, authorities said.

The rescue team was able to free the swan without damage to the island or hurting the swan. Then after being rescued, the swan swam away.

“Although it wasn’t happy to see us approaching, we did get a wave on the way out!,” the post said.
