Flagger-controlled lane restrictions on New Hope-Lambertville Bridge extended to Nov. 24–25

LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Motorists using the New Hope-Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge — commonly known as the “free bridge” — should expect daytime delays early next week as lane restrictions are extended to allow continued installation of a temporary work platform, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced.

Flagger-controlled, alternating single-lane travel is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, and Tuesday, Nov. 25. Drivers may encounter periodic stoppages during these hours.

The restrictions will allow contractors to install steel panels beneath the bridge deck. Once in place, the panels will act as a temporary work platform for electricians replacing short-circuiting electrical junction boxes at several locations on the bridge.

Bridge users are urged to reduce speeds, follow flagger directions and exercise caution while crews are active.

Commission officials said the goal is to complete the steel-panel installation before the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. If work remains unfinished, additional daytime travel restrictions may be required in early December.

All scheduled restrictions are weather-dependent and may change due to emergencies or other factors, the Commission said.
