Flemington-Raritan rescue squad and HealthQuest team up for annual truck pull challenge

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad and HealthQuest Fitness Club once again joined forces on November 2, to host the 7th Annual Rescue Truck Pull, bringing the community together for a test of strength and teamwork.

Thirteen teams — each made up of up to 12 competitors — faced the challenge of pulling the squad’s 68,000-pound Heavy Rescue 495 truck about 50 yards uphill in a race against the clock. Participants came from across the community, including emergency services personnel and local fitness enthusiasts.

HealthQuest’s personal training staff led seven of the competing teams, while four were made up of members from local emergency services agencies: Amwell Valley Ambulance Corps, Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance & Rescue Squad, the Flemington Volunteer Fire Department, and the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad itself.

The squad’s own team featured firefighters and EMTs including Kyle Varin, Gavin Stager, Nick Brunetti, Linda Nemec, James Breuer, Andrew Glowacki, Coral Sellers, Collin Merz, Dave Somers, Kate Moran, Jen Hebert, and Sandra Mikuta.

A special Kids’ Pull gave school-aged children the chance to join the fun with a scaled-down version of the challenge.

“Thank you to our hosts at HealthQuest for once again working together to deliver an excellent Truck Pull,” the Rescue Squad said in a statement. “Special thanks to Hunterdon Health for sponsoring this year’s event. Thank you to everyone who attended — we look forward to seeing you all next year.”
