Hackettstown crossing guard honored for decades spent keeping kids safe

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren county) – For 49 years, crossing guard JoAnn Armstrong has made sure children crossing a Hackettstown street on their way to school were safe.

On Monday, Armstrong was honored for her dedicated service and a section of Arthur Terrace was named “JoAnn Armstrong Way.”

The surprise ceremony included Mayor Jerry DiMaio, police officers, fellow crossing guards, Hackettstown Department of Public Works and family.

Armstrong retired in June of 2021.
