Hackettstown Rotary to host fall community shredding event Oct. 11

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — The Hackettstown Rotary Club will hold its bi-annual Community Shredding Event on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon, or until the truck is full, at the Fulton Bank parking lot, 176 Mountain Ave in Hackettstown.

The cost is $5 per bag or box, with all proceeds benefiting the many community organizations supported by the Hackettstown Rotary Foundation. The event is open to all surrounding communities.

“I love that our Rotary Club provides this service to the community,” said Hackettstown Rotarian and Library Director Jerry Galante. “A lot of people and businesses have sensitive documents that could be a liability if thrown out, so it is really important that we offer shredding. Plus, my lizard brain finds it fun to load the truck and have it shred things.”

The Hackettstown Rotary Foundation supports more than 35 local organizations, including Abilities, Alina Lodge addiction recovery, The Arc of Warren County, CASA SHAW, DASACC (Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Crisis Center), the Gift of Life program, the Hackettstown Free Public Library, and scholarship funds for Hackettstown High School and Warren County Technical School students. Other beneficiaries include the Hackettstown Medical Center Foundation, Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, Trinity and local food pantries, and the Cure Blindness initiative of the Himalayan Cataract Project.

Rotary International is a global network of 1.4 million members dedicated to uniting communities and taking action to create lasting change across the world, in local communities, and within themselves.
