Hopatcong band teacher accused of lewdness

HOPATCONG BOROUGH, N.J. (Sussex County) — A band teacher employed by the Hopatcong Borough School District has been charged with lewdness, authorities announced Thursday.

Albert J. Cerulo III was charged with one count of lewdness, according to the Hopatcong Police Department. He was arrested, processed, and released pending a future appearance in Sussex County Superior Court, police said.

At the time of the incident, Cerulo was employed as the band teacher for both Hopatcong Middle School and Hopatcong High School.

The investigation was conducted jointly by the Hopatcong Police Department and the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Hopatcong Borough School District has made support services and counseling available for students and staff affected by the matter.
