Hundreds mourn, attend vigil for Hackettstown High School student killed in crash

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – There were plenty of tears and memories shared in Hackettstown Tuesday night at a candlelight vigil to remember 17-year-old Isabella M. Todaro, who was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning.

The vigil was held on the field in front of Hatchery Hill School.

Reverend Don Gebhard, Chaplin at Hackettstown Medical Center, offered soothing words for the students, faculty, friends, and the Hackettstown community at the vigil.

Hackettstown Mayor Jerry DiMaio, Superintendent of Hackettstown Public School District Debra Grigoletti, and students spoke at the vigil.

The Cross on Buck Hill was also illuminated Tuesday night and will remain lit Wednesday night to honor Todaro.

Todaro, who was a senior at Hackettstown High School, died in a single-vehicle crash that happened on Oct. 7 at around 2:25 a.m. on Flocktown Road near Nestlingwood Drive in Washington Township, Morris County.

Anyone that would like to seek services can reach out to Don Gebhard for support. He can be contacted at 862-309-3670.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help alleviate the financial burden for the family.

The GoFundMe organizer wrote, “Isabella was in her senior year at Hackettstown High School, with a bright future ahead of her. She was a hard worker and loved spending time with friends, family and had a special bond with twin brother Louis. We will always remember her bright blue eyes and contagious laugh. She will me greatly missed by all who knew her.”

The GoFundMe has set a goal of $50,000 and as of Wednesday morning, it has raised more than $54,000. If you would like to donate, click here.
