WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon County Chapter of BW NICE, Inc. held its 9th Annual Red Shoe Event on Wednesday, June 18, at the Shoppes at the Farm, honoring Hunterdon County Clerk Mary Melfi as the 2025 Businesswoman of the Year.
The award recognized Melfi’s leadership, community service, and dedication to public service. The celebration included appearances by Hunterdon County Commissioner Director John E. Lanza, Commissioners Jeff Kuhl, Susan J. Soloway, Zachary T. Rich, and Sheriff Fred Brown.
“Mary Melfi exemplifies the spirit of this award — her tireless commitment to the people of Hunterdon County, her integrity, and compassion make her a true role model,” Lanza said. “We are proud to stand beside her and celebrate her many contributions this evening.”
The Red Shoe Event, BW NICE’s signature fundraiser, brought together community members, business leaders, and advocates to raise awareness and support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Proceeds benefited SAFE in Hunterdon and BW NICE, Inc.
The evening featured live music, dinner, dancing, a tricky tray auction, and a red-carpet photo walk, reflecting the event’s spirit of unity and empowerment.
In her acceptance speech, Melfi said, “I am deeply honored to be named Businesswoman of the Year by BW NICE. This organization’s mission to uplift and protect women is one I hold close to my heart. I share this recognition with every woman who has faced adversity and risen stronger.”
Since its inception, the Red Shoe Event has raised more than $265,000 to support local charities and continues to expand its impact across New Jersey.
