Hunterdon County commissioner highlights mutual aid response during Lambertville snow removal

LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon County Commissioner Director John E. Lanza visited Lambertville on Thursday to highlight the county’s emergency management mutual aid system as snow removal efforts continued following last weekend’s winter storm.

Lanza was joined by Lambertville Mayor Andrew Nowick during the visit, which focused on ongoing snow removal in the city’s central business district. While in Lambertville, Lanza met with Hunterdon County Department of Public Works employee Robert Bound, who is temporarily assisting the Lambertville Department of Public Works through an Office of Emergency Management–coordinated mutual aid request.

County officials said the temporary deployment underscores Hunterdon County’s commitment to supporting municipalities during severe weather events and maintaining safe road conditions for residents.

“Winter storms don’t stop at municipal borders. When our towns need help, Hunterdon County steps in when able through our mutual aid system. This kind of cooperation is exactly how we keep our communities safe and moving forward during difficult conditions,” Lanza said.

Ahead of the winter storm, Lanza hosted a joint coordination call on Saturday, Jan. 24, with the Hunterdon County Office of Emergency Management and local mayors to discuss storm preparedness, response coordination and the sharing of resources.

During the call, Public Safety Director and OEM Coordinator Brayden Fahey provided an update on forecast conditions and outlined response protocols in the event of prolonged power outages or other significant impacts.

“This advance communication ensures everyone is working from the same information and prepared to respond quickly,” Lanza said. “Strong partnerships between the County OEM and our municipalities are critical to protecting public safety, especially when severe weather threatens our region.”

County officials said Hunterdon County will continue to monitor weather conditions and coordinate with local leaders to support municipal response efforts before, during and after winter storms.
