Hunterdon County commissioners honor state agricultural fair ambassador, junior ambassador
HUNTERDON COUNTY, N.J. — The Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners honored two local residents Feb. 17 for their leadership and service as representatives of the state’s agricultural community.
Pittstown resident Christina Piparo, who serves as the New Jersey Agricultural Fair Ambassador, and Raritan Township resident Autumn Hayes, the New Jersey Agricultural Fair Junior Ambassador, were recognized during the board’s meeting.
The proclamations acknowledged both young women for representing Hunterdon County’s agricultural tradition through their involvement with the Hunterdon County 4-H and Agricultural Fair.
“Christina and Autumn are outstanding representatives of our county’s agricultural community,” said Commissioner John Lanza. “Their dedication, leadership, and passion for agriculture reflect the strong tradition of farming and youth involvement that continues to shape Hunterdon County. We are proud to honor them and wish them continued success in their future endeavors.”
Piparo, a graduate of American University, was a member of Hunterdon County 4-H for 10 years. She participated in the Centaurs Horse Club and the Junior Leaders community service group and served on the county’s 4-H horse drill team. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Rutgers University in environmental science, focusing on soil science and sustainable agriculture, and plans to continue her studies toward a doctorate and research in sustainable and regenerative agriculture.
Hayes is a student at Voorhees High School and is enrolled in the animal science program at Hunterdon County Polytech. She is active in both FFA and 4-H and has attended the Hunterdon County 4-H and Agricultural Fair her entire life, exhibiting at the fair for the past five years. She plans to continue her education to become a large animal veterinarian.
The New Jersey Agricultural Fair Ambassador and Junior Ambassador serve as representatives of the annual Hunterdon County 4-H and Agricultural Fair, participating in community outreach and promoting agriculture and youth education throughout the region.
Commissioners congratulated both ambassadors and thanked them for serving as representatives of Hunterdon County agriculture.
