LEBANON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – The Hunterdon County Commissioners held the September 5th board meeting “on-the-road” at the Lebanon Township Municipal Building.
In addition to various updates from County department Directors and the approval of routine grant and resolution requests, Commissioner Director Zach Rich, on behalf of the Commissioner’s awarded two well deserving proclamations.
Kathryn Hutchins, joined by her mom, Kristen and father, Earl, accepted a proclamation recognizing Chiari Awareness Month in Hunterdon County. Chiari Malformation (CH) is a rare neurological disorder when the brain descends out of the skull and puts pressure on the spine. The condition only effects approximately 300,000 people in the US.
The Hutchins family is hoping to raise awareness about Chiari Malformation and to raise money for valuable research, through a “Chiari Walk Across America” event,scheduled for Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Deer Path Park, located at 120 West Woodschurch Road, in Flemington.

“I am happy to award this proclamation in recognition of the determination and dedication the Hutchins family has to raising awareness about this rare neurological disorder. I am just learning more about this condition this evening, and it seems there is a lot more to be done for Chiari patients through education, awareness, and valuable research,” Commissioner Rich said.
Long-time Lebanon Township resident, Joshua Rich, V also received a proclamation commending him for 53 years of service on the Lebanon Township Planning Board. Additionally, Mr. Rich served as a trustee for 21 years on the Board of Hunterdon Medical Center, he was a member on the Republican County Committee in Lebanon Township for many years and served on the local Board of Education.
“Joshua Rich is a true example of what it means to be a legacy member, committed resident and dedicated citizen of Hunterdon County. His contributions have been instrumental in maintaining the rural character, history, and charm of Lebanon Township. The Board thanks Mr. Rich for his outstanding service and contributions throughout the years,” Commissioner Rich said.
