Hunterdon County promotes Rutgers Master Gardeners Helpline for spring gardening season
HUNTERDON COUNTY, N.J. — As residents begin spring planting and outdoor projects, Hunterdon County officials are encouraging gardeners to take advantage of the Rutgers Master Gardeners Helpline for advice on gardening, landscaping and plant care.
Hunterdon County Commissioner Jeff Kuhl highlighted the free public service, which is operated through Rutgers Cooperative Extension and provides research-based guidance from trained Master Gardener volunteers.
“As many residents begin their spring planting and outdoor projects, the Helpline offers access to reliable, practical information,” said Commissioner Kuhl. “This service supports healthier gardens, better-informed environmental choices, and more sustainable land management practices throughout our community.”
The helpline assists residents with a variety of gardening and landscaping concerns, including identifying plant diseases and insect pests, diagnosing problems affecting boxwood, spruce and pine trees, recommending native plant garden designs, removing invasive species and interpreting soil test results.
The Rutgers Master Gardeners Helpline is available Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Residents can call 908-788-1735 or email gardeners@co.hunterdon.nj.us.
In addition to the helpline, Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Hunterdon County offers educational programs and community resources throughout the year at the Hunterdon County Complex.
County officials said the program continues to serve as a valuable resource for residents seeking trusted information to support healthy gardens, landscapes and local ecosystems throughout the growing season.
