‘A Sherlock Carol’ brings holiday mystery and humor to County College of Morris Dec. 11–13

RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — County College of Morris will bring a festive blend of classic literature and detective intrigue to the stage this month with its production of “A Sherlock Carol,” presented by the Marielaine Mammon School of Music, Performing Arts, and Music Technologies.

Performances will run Dec. 11–13 at 7:30 p.m. in the college’s Dragonetti Auditorium. The show combines Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, offering what the college calls a humorous and heart-filled mashup that infuses traditional holiday spirit with a clever mystery twist.

With Professor James Moriarty dead, the story follows an adult Tiny Tim, who turns to Sherlock Holmes to investigate the mysterious death of Ebenezer Scrooge. The production brings two iconic literary worlds together as Holmes steps into an unexpected Christmas caper.

“What a delight to get to work on a show like this!” Director Michele Danna said. “Without exaggeration, Sherlock Holmes and Ebenezer Scrooge are two of the most widely recreated figures in all literature. We’re familiar with the stories and the characters from their tales, but weaving them into the same world creates a whole new version for people to fall in love with. It’s part murder mystery, part comedy and a whole lot of holiday heart.”

The cast and crew include performers and student artists from across New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, featuring roles such as Sherlock Holmes, Dr. John Watson, Ebenezer Scrooge, Mary Morstan, Martha Cratchit, Irene Adler and various narrators, carolers and ensemble members.

General admission tickets are $15, while tickets for CCM students, alumni, children under 12 and seniors 62 and older are $10. Tickets may be purchased at bookstore.ccm.edu under the theater shows section. Visitors may park in Lot 7 at 214 Center Grove Road.
