Hunterdon County receives $3.192 million federal grant toward second phase of emergency services training center
HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Hunterdon County Commissioner John Lanza, who serves as the liaison to the Department of Public Safety, recently shared that Hunterdon County was awarded a $3.192 million federal grant which was included as part of six Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations bills that were recently signed into law.
“I would like to thank Congressman Tom Kean and U.S. Senator Cory Booker for their bipartisan work on securing this important money for Hunterdon County,” Lanza said.
The next phase of the Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Complex includes construction of a new administration building complete with classroom training space, a backup 9-1-1 Center, and bathroom facilities. A new vehicle storage building will also be constructed at the site to protect expensive training props and other equipment from the elements.
“Our first responders put their lives on the line everyday protecting our lives and property, and they are deserving of a modern training facility which will ensure they are properly prepared to carry out their import work,” Lanza said.
Hunterdon County expects that Spiezle Architectural Group will have the final plans completed for the next phase of the project sometime next month and at that point the Commissioner Board will need to authorize the project going out to bid.
