Hunterdon County trout season opens April 8

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Commissioner Director Zach Rich, announced at the recent board meeting, that the official opening day for trout season, per the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife, will be on April 8, at 8:00 a.m. Free fishing dates are scheduled for June 3 and October 21.

Local ponds are scheduled to be stocked pre-season. Manny’s Pond, in Union Township is allocated to receive 950 Rainbow Trout and Mountain Farm Pond, in Teetertown, will receive 1,180 Rainbow Trout.

Additional fishing areas in Hunterdon County include, the Raritan River along Hamden and Pine Hill Roads in Clinton, and on Kiceniuk and Stanton Station roads in Franklin and Three Bridges, in Raritan Township.

“Fishing is an important tradition, often bringing families together, providing fresh food and healthy outdoor activity for participants. The county’s Parks and Recreation Division has a detailed Fishing Guide available on the Hunterdon County website. The Guide includes a summary of rules and regulations and fishing locations in the county,” Rich said.

“The county is excited to welcome back anglers and invites everyone to come find their favorite fishing spot. Fishing licenses are required and there are several county locations where they can be purchased in-person or they are also available for purchase online,” Rich said.
