I-287 northbound all lanes reopen following emergency drainage repairs in Morris County

Left shoulder remains closed until permanent repairs can be made

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, NJ (Morris County) – The two left lanes on I-287 northbound in Parsippany-Troy Hills have reopened, ahead of the Monday morning commute on March 24, following temporary emergency drainage repairs. However, the left shoulder remains closed until permanent repairs can be completed.

The lanes, located near mile post 42.2, just past the bridge over Littleton Road, were shut down on Friday afternoon, March 21, after a sinkhole developed due to a collapsed drainage pipe. Crews worked around the clock to complete the temporary repairs, allowing the lanes to be reopened in time for the Monday rush hour.

While the lanes have reopened, it was determined that more extensive work, including the installation of approximately 80 feet of concrete drainage pipe, is necessary for a permanent fix. Following the temporary repairs, the roadway was repaved, and construction barriers have been placed along the left shoulder, which will remain closed until the full repair can be completed.

A schedule for the permanent repair is yet to be determined.
