I-287 northbound lane closures this weekend for drainage work in Morris County

Work necessary to connect pipe and reconstruct the roadway

MONTVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – The two left lanes on I-287 northbound are scheduled to be closed this weekend for drainage repairs in Montville Township. This is a continuation of work that began last weekend.

Beginning at 10:00 p.m., Friday, November 8 until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 10, the two left lanes on I-287 northbound at mile post 47.1 near the Bridge over Route 202 in Montville Township are scheduled to be closed.

One lane will be maintained on I-287 northbound. The closure is necessary to install a 36-inch concrete drainage pipe to replace a collapsed pipe, connect it to the existing inlet in the left shoulder, and reconstruct the roadway. If work is finished sooner, the lanes will reopen earlier. Motorists are advised to use caution, slow down, and expect delays or seek an alternate route.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website for construction updates and real-time travel information.
